Sympoietic Society is a pan-European art collective of emerging artists,
performers, designers, curators, researchers addressing environmental
losses through collaborative and site-sensitive artistic interventions. The
collective advocates for a social model organised around the principle of
“sympoiesis”, that is, of “making-with” –and therefore “thinking-with”
and “becoming-with”– human and more-than-human entities. Our
research revolves around experimenting with new ways of inhabiting a
planet in crisis, disrupted by the acceleration of capitalism and
extractivism. By adopting artistic approaches, we develop a more
embodied understanding of environmental crises and facilitate more
inclusive dialogues. Practising ecologies of care, we acknowledge our
inherent vulnerability as interdependent beings in a complex, entangled
world. Embracing the essence of experimentation, we encourage
unconventional modes of sensing and archiving and initiate participatory
experiences that amplify diverse perspectives and narratives. Through
our interventions, we investigate and promote site-sensitive creation
and posthuman relationships based on generosity, reciprocity and
response-ability.
