FEVER

FEVER
FEVER

Strong blows of Icelandic winds,
heating Svalbard’s shores.
The burning breath of industrial fuel,
starved of the remnants
of our ancient kin.

Rising waves of heat,
melting the weakened
maritime ice—
thin, salty flows
coming together
resisting
the last
summer seasons

alive.
