Kristen Orr
Kristen Orr is a trained designer and biologist based in Portland, Oregon. She works as a freelance museum exhibit designer and scientific illustrator, helping museums, researchers, and conservation organizations communicate science through compelling visual storytelling. Her latest project, "Cross Pollinated," is a podcast about creative collaboration at the intersection of art and science. Each episode, she randomly pairs an artist with a scientist and invites them to imagine what they could create together. Past pairings include a tattoo artist and an entomologist, a fiber artist and a neurologist, and a painter and a meteorologist. Through this project, she hopes to broaden our understanding of what art and science collaborations can look like, inspire more artists and scientists to work together, and demonstrate how creativity and science can help address some of the world's most pressing environmental challenges.
