Kathy High

Kathy High is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and educator/scholar. She collaborates with scientists and activists, considers living systems, animal sentience, queer ecologies, and the ethical dilemmas of biotechnology and medical industries. She exhibits her videos, performances, and conceptual works around issues of gender and technology, and pursues works of bioscience/bioart, and waste studies. She is committed to environmental justice, do-it-together collaborative action. Her many awards include the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. Her artworks have been shown in numerous museums and festivals around the world. She has had artist residencies with SymbioticA (Australia), Finnish Bioart Society, Coalesce, (Buffalo), Djerassi Scientific Delirium Madness (CA), Ectopia/Blend (Lisbon), Metabolic Arts Gathering, Medical Museion (Copenhagen). High is also Professor in the Arts department, and Director of BioArt and Technology Lab in Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. She is Coordinator of NATURE Lab, a project of the NGO Sanctuary for Independent Media.
