Ines Montalvao
Ines Montalvao (PT) is a multidisciplinary creative, curator, and experience designer with a background in natural sciences, working at the intersection of art, science, and society. She focuses her practice on art-science, exploring cross-disciplinary approaches, storytelling, illustration, and innovative ways to create meaningful experiences. She has a demonstrated experience in exhibition design, having worked at the Natural History and Science Museum of Porto, at the Pavilion of Knowledge, and Heureka Science Centre, and collaborated with several international institutions. Ines is a co-founder of Mandarina Collective, a group focused on art-science with a multicultural and inclusive approach to their performances (e.g. The Rain Theatre), workshops, and exhibitions; and also co-founder of project Lingua Plantae, which aims to develop a shared language between humans and plants through biodata sonification and sound curation. She is also a member of the Non Random Arts Collective, an affiliate of the artistic residency at the SETI Institute (USA). Since 2023, Ines is a Program Director at Artists with Evidence (AwE), curating transdisciplinary initiatives such as Climate & Death, two editions of the Climate Security Festival, the Ec(h)o Effect conversation series on war, ecology, and futures, the Live from the Threshold series and other programs. AwE is an international nonprofit organization with a program that fosters dialogue and innovation within the art-science field with a global network of over 90 creatives.
