❄︎ Néfur

Néfur listens, sings, records and makes music with disappearing Icelandic glaciers. Through sounds of water and her singing voice, she raises awareness of the reciprocity and interdependence between humans, glaciers and water. Her work is a felt invitation to remember our kinship with glaciers, to re-align with the ancient rhythms of nature, and to reclaim creativity and joy as a collective power. Shortlisted for her field recording of Solheimajökull glacier lagoon on BBC Sound Awards 2021, Néfur has created an album composed entirely with sounds of disappearing Icelandic glaciers and her voice, called The Water, The Lover. Néfur offers meditative concerts mixing glacier sounds with her hypnotic singing voice. She recently performed at the UNOC3 in Nice, and at festivals CTM (Berlin), Sonar (Barcelona) and Spitalfields Music (London) amongst others. She also composes for dance, theatre, performance, film and video-art.
