Transcending Boundaries: An Evening of Art-Science

Climate & Death 2024 · April 9, 2024

"Transcending Boundaries" is an enlightening conversation, that took place in the heart of Helsinki at Tekstin Talo (House of Text) on 9 April 2024, in the context of the Climate & Death 2024 program. The conversation was curated and moderated by Ines Montalvao, a multidisciplinary creative and Program Director at Artists with Evidence. The guests joining the conversation were post-disciplinary artist and researcher Mari Keski-Korsu, interdisciplinary artist Eeva-Liisa Puhakka, activist Ainu Kyrönseppä (also co-founder of Operaatio Arktis) and Research Professor Raisa Mäkipää. In this engaging discussion, we explore diverse themes including mortality and the evocative sense of smell, the enigmatic depths of permafrost, and the delicate balance of the Arctic ecosystem. Join us as we delve into the intricate dynamics of multispecies interactions, the multifaceted challenges of climate change mitigation efforts, and the fascinating processes of decay. The program for Climate & Death 2024 was collectively organized by Artists with Evidence with the Safer Climate network (University of Helsinki), Tunne Ry and the Finnish Death Studies Association.
